I have a friend who has a xp 1800 and his temps are running at 49 °C (120 °F) for cpu --and 30 °C (86 °F) for mobo it that high or is it normal he is going to be installing a 9800 pro inwhich will generate more heat should he keep an eye on the temps help would be apprecated thank you
i get up to 55 load on my barton core...and its clocked about 170Mhz more. and my 9800pro is upped a bit too. almost at XT speeds. so no it shouldn't be a worry. As long as things are stable. altho i don't know the recommended temp for those processors, mines Barton core. totally difff

yes those temps are fine, Im running a AMD 2100+ and it runs about the same temp, if he is really concerned about the temps, he can remove the heatsink put some Arctic Silver 5 on the cpu also if he has room to add another case fan or 2 and that will help cool things down. Also cable managment is very important also. Make sure his cable are nice and neat and out of the way of airflow.

I wouldn't start worring unless you start going past the 60 degree mark and even then it's not going to kill the processor, it has a max die temp of 85 or 90 degrees

if you are that serious about cooling be safe add sum fans and or wire management and or new cpu hs!
