Speaking of Peter Newman:

- It's one thing to read them.

But it's quite another to actually hear the words of Brian Mulroney in those audio tapes compiled by author Peter C. Newman

On Monday night, CBC-TV airs a feature-length documentary version, and for the first time Canadians will actually hear the former PM in all his profanity-laced glory, usually in phone calls to Newman in which he appears to be trying to dictate his own place in history while summarily denouncing his political rivals.

I was disappointed; too many unrelated, small sound bits and bytes. Nevertheless, it did make the point that Mulroney was an arrogant, spiteful, self-centred pompous ass just full of himself (he even had the audicity to proclaim himself as the saviour of Canada!). I'm sure Chretien who followed him was no better and probably even worse. Let that be a lesson to all those favouring majority governments.

Or all those stupid enough to grant Peter C. Newman taped interviews "off the record". I personally think Newman set Mulroney up and he fell for it, hook, line and sinker.

I watched about 2/3 of it and came away with the conclusion that if you hated Mulroney then, you'll hate him even more after this. If you loved him, it might temper your affection somewhat.

I always thought he was a pompous, self-serving, conceited moron and the show just confirmed it.

For those of you who missed it, it will air again on CBC Newsworld on Sunday 11/27 @ 10.00pm and again on Friday 12/02 @ 10.00pm
