BackDoor.Aim Description

Backdoor Trojan horses usually install themselves after the Trojan horse file is ran. They also allow remote access to the infected computer when connected to the internet.
In their least dangerous form they can cause the infected computer to download or upload specific files or run certain programs. More dangerous Trojan horse will allow the perpetrator full control of the infected computer.

Did her anti-virus catch it?
Is it quarrantined or deleted or what?
How did she identify it as being Back Door.Aim.33?

If you believe the computer is infected you can run Aimfix by jayloden.

"AIM Fix was created to remove all known AIM viruses in one consolidated removal tool.

Edit:
If she was sent this virus and her anti-virus popped up, then she should be fine.
The anti-virus did it's job.
You can double check: run an on-line scan as suggested by bluvertigo,
If an aim virus still exists try aimfix to remove it.
