This is new to me. I just started my computer today, and I recognized some files highlighted in blue. I have no idea what this means. I scanned for spyware, viruses and cleaned registry with reg mechanic. I've ran scandisk to no avail. I've googled it but didn't find any relevant information on it. So why are some files on my computer highlighted in blue? Thanks for any answers.

Under NTFS, blue files are compressed files, encrypted files are in green.

Could it be you have 'show hidden files' on by accident? go to control panel/tools/folder options/view, if you have 'show hidden files and folders' checked simply select 'Do not show hidden files and folders'

Thanks everyone for the responses so far.

Lee Anne, I do not have 'show hidden files' checked. Those files along with some files in another folder have been there for quite a while now, it's just since yesterday, I saw them highlighted in blue.

Reiver is correct. The coloring option is active in your folder options.

Once again, thanks everybody. Thanks Exmortis for reinforcing reiver's post who was 100% correct. I have no idea why that option was checked or who checked it because I'm the only user on this computer but the problem has been resolved.
