Hence the reason why Blizzard just implemented parental control. ;)

Ya, I've been playing the trial religiously recently. I am not sure if I should buy it at the end of the trial or not. I REALLY like it, but the last time I played an MMORPG, I didn't have a girlfriend, and had all the time in the world to play.

Now I don't know how much time I will have to play it, and don't know if I can justify paying the $20 a month for it.

A girlfriend may be pricey, but she is real. ;)

It's unfortunate, but there will always be people out there taking things way too seriously. The exact same thing happened with the original Everquest. Someone shot himself while playing the game. There was even a case of someone killing another over a game of Counter-Strike.

I wouldn't blame the games, though... That person was already pre-disposed to do something over a small thing/incident at some point on his life. There are people that kill over road-rage, yet they don't blame car makers.

Yea seriously its not the games its just peoples inner ability to sperate reality from games!!!! Dont blame the games blame the crazy people playing them!!

games don't and have never killed anyone.. if someone dies from a "game related" occurance, it is because there was something else deep in that child that was in need of attention..
I blame the parents, or loved ones for not seeing a potiential problem with this / these people and I have no sympathy

Man I can't believe people who just get completely consumed by these online games. 3 of my friends have already dropped out of College and the main reason was this game.......of course it's my friends fault and I think they are pathetic losers and really wouldn't call them friends anymore but just goes to show you how these games can affect people. They should implement some kinda time limit per day for these games because there has been cases of death directly linked to excessive gaming more notedly online rpgs.

Thats what the Government in China wants to do on all MMORPGs because of the huge popularity and the amount of people that get addicted to them.

I have tried one (city of heroes ) and i liked it but couldnt justify spending the 20 a month on it as i felt i didnt play enough to kee ppaying for it. seems like people who play these games play about 8 hours a day.

Well, I have never played this game Wow, never heard of it until I read about it here ! All I can say about the gaming addiction is yes its catching lol ... One good thing about being on a medical leave I guess would be being able to play the games that I enjoy! Right now COD 2 and Guild Wars is consuming a lot of my time.. Both Great Games !

I don't play WOW but am thinking of it. Some gamers I used to play Everquest with have switched to WOW. I let my EQ account slide because I was finding i was online far too late at night playing with my guild (til 2 am or later) then up at 6 am to get ready for work. I rmeember just wanting to play another 1/2 hr then another 1/2 hr and so on. I played it for 4 years and it consumed me more than it should have. I'd like to try WOW but am worried the same thing will happen.. : (

How does one learn moderation in such a fun filled addictive game?

Myself and my wife play wow.....we run a guild on Laughing skull named Death Before Dishonor.....We enjoy the game as we play together with many other couples from Around Durham Region....the guild currently has 100 members mostly from this area.....We do play mostly later at night (after work) so If you would like to move to this server and join a bunch of other Canucks.....you would all be welcomed to join....We pride ourselves on being a little older then the average guild so adults over 18 are prefered. We don't look at wow as an addiction rather as a hobby to enjoy in your spare time...Its no more time consuming than those that sit around a television all night.....at least we interact and have fun...

Contact Names in game are

Scugog
Warlisk
Celegroz
Grendl
Takalow
Enee
Tipsey

Ziggaa, I always think it is great that couples can enjoy things together, INCLUDING gaming. I remember when i started playing EQ, there was a chat board of Yahoo for EQ Widows/Widower's ...people whose mates ignored them because they were always online. MOre power to the people who can interact, enjoying something so much fun together. For me it WAS fun and I miss it.

The guild I belonged to was primarily from Northwest Territories and they were 2 hours behind me so that explained the late nights. Before THAT guild it was one from the United Kingdom it was a 5 hour differential so try adjusting time lines around that!

It is appealing the thoughts of playing with people from your own area/especially same TIME ZONE! I hear great things about WOW and how it is more into questing , which was always an appealing part of Everquest for me.

Thank you for your response and I will seriously think about joining up once school gets in and I settle into a routine!

I've been in WoW since the beta days. I'm on Hellscream (one of the first 10 servers) and an officer of "The Order Of The Red Rose" guild (www.orderoftheredrose.com (http://www.orderoftheredrose.com)). We have weekly Zul'Gurub and Ahn'Qiraj runs and through our alliances with other guilds, we also have weekly Molten Core and Blackwing Lair runs. We have ZG and AQ in farming status now. We just started to become attuned to Naxxramas and have had some test runs. Hopefully more will come soon. :) Sometimes we go after Onyxia, but she's getting old now...

Feel free to seek us or visit our forums if you're on Hellscream. :)

My boyfriend and I were both Ragnarockers for quite some time. We played in the same guild, and it sort of helped us out during the "War of Emperium" (guild wars). I was a magic user, while he went in to kill the "emperium" (like the king), so I stayed outside and kept everyone from comming in the castle, and I could still se what was going on inside and let my teammates know. Many countless nights were spent leveling...

I have to disagree with you....Its simply a hobby...I have several...its fun and interactive....like anything, it should be enjoyed in moderation....its a game to have fun with....Many people do things others may feel is a waste....tv....music....etc etc....To instantly label a hobby as a waste is a rediculous statement.....It would be like as if I said that golf or pop music was a waste.....it simply is what it is....a form of entertainment.....nothing more ...nothing less.

Sorry.

I also disagree, we both still worked but we were part of a community. Our guild members were our friends, and we made some good ones. We figured out startegies for taking over other castles, so there was teamwork.

Ok, but I am "addicted" to Boards, etc., but I don't loose any sleep over them.

And they don't interfere with my day-to-day life.

Some posters above cannot make that statement.

I agree with you....but the game is not the problem....Its the player....everyone needs that little voice in thier head to say "well, I think i've had enough".....but with this game as in many things in this world....that little voice doesn't go off......people eat too much, smoke too much.....too much too much....of whatever......some people just have addictive personalities....If you do find yourself giving up sleep or failing in school or ignoring your mate...perhaps the problem goes deeper then a video game......I'm no shrink....I just play one on tv....
