Is one better than another? I don't want crashes or any theatrics...I want something that will handle constant bandwidth usage without freezing, glitching --stuff like that.

Thats the one I had before this new router was the speed stream 5200 the black one. That thing would get so Hot I used to use it as a foot warmer lol

I'm using the speedstream 6300 from Bell (Seimens) and it works like a charm.

I am using the Speedstream 5200 and it is warm, but I wouldn't go so far as to say its hot. Consistent speeds here.

speedstream 5200 e42 (second model) works the best and is much cooler then its older brother.

Mine says E240...is that just a typo?

older one is black with a silver front and the newer one is all black.

Speedstream 5200 provided by bell - no issues, though it's not close to the advertised speed. (runs quite warm to the touch)

I am using an Alcatel speedtouch home, have been for years and would never use anything by speedstream, they seem like cheap modems and I know people who have had a lot of problems with them.

I still have the original Speedstream 5200, would've still had an Alcatel but I cancelled years ago and signed up again later because I was unsatisfied with Rogers.

both speed streams 5200 work fine (mind you the older version is a foot warmer).

GVC/GNET internal PCI DSL modem.
That's what I have now, but I need a external modem because I want to connect it to a wirless router. I love this thing, it hasn't given me any issues what so ever. I bought it a few years ago. Plus I want to mess around with Linux and the support for it sucks.
