hi

i have noticed that a few sites that i can access from Linux will not show up under windows. Mostly foreign news websites. IE and Firefox just sit there and then tell me that the pages dont exist. (no website blocking/censoring software is installed, that i know of )

the last time i tried to access one of the websites my IE crashed and my firewall asked me if i wanted to allow " Idemlog.exe " to access the internet.

i said no and then this popped up. It installed a fake spyware remover, "UnSpyPc" and this tool bar that runs IE in the background. It doesnt show up in proccesses list or anywhere in the task manager.

Ad-aware can not find it, and Spybot Search and Destroy, just crashes when it gets to a certain point.

anyone able to help? also before you ask me to post a hijack this log that is not possible as it just crashes everytime i open it.

thanx in advance

Have you tried the Microsoft Anti-Spyware application that is free to download from www.microsoft.com (http://www.microsoft.com) ?

you will probably have to run any scans in safe mode

well you got some problems there,

1) try to run Hijack this in safe mode.
2) Rename hjt to something else ,then run it.

have you run any on-line virus scans?

Have you tried to run ewido? (free version)
