Hello,

I downloaded the WoW Trial from File Planet. I installed it but when I try to create and account it asks for an Authetication Key.

Where do I find that?

Regards,

AN

so what, the only reason is if you like the game you can pay on your credit card and play more, i think is a smart idea and blizzard will make alot of money getting ppl hooked for the 1 week trial!!

Umm it's a trial. Why would they need it for a trial.

To make sure you don't play only on trials and keep on creating new accounts forever. May sound dumb, but Asheron's Call 2 is constantly flooded with people creating trial accounts by the dozens and cause grief in the game. With the CC number, you create a trial account and you're gone when it runs out. Don't forget that there are also gold farmers out there that could use trial accounts to laundry money.

Actually trial accounts are limited to level 20, and you cannot use the AH, mailbox, or trade. Those measures are what's preventing abuse by farmers, not the CC requirement.

But they can still chat locally and just be there to use slots on the login queue or are they limited to a trial realm?

I've seen enough grief from trial accounts in other MMOs to understand this requirement. Getting banned on a trial account means nothing if you can create a new account and come back to cause problems.

I didn't quite get in the full list of restrictions. They're as follows:

- max level of 20
- 10g maximum allowed
- cannot use AH
- cannot use trade
- cannot use mailbox
- cannot use chat

In other words, trial accounts are fairly harmless. However they can join any realm, potentially taking up a queue slot on a server that has queues. Then again I don't see why anyone would bother "griefing" by taking up a queue slot, as that really accomplishes nothing.

Again, I've seen griefers doing things that accomplish nothing. Creating tons of characters just to come in and scream profanities/racist remarks/etc. I guess Blizzard is trying to cover as many angles as possible. And although they cannot use generat chat, they can use local chat.
