I knew that this day would come. I watched smashmyxbox.com and the sales associate at BestBuy clearly said that their 2 systems they had crashed!

WEll the lawsuit against defenctive PSP systems never worked out so i doubt this will either. It also re enforces what i have been seeing over the years. Gamers are one of the most imature groups of people and i hate associating myself with that.

Another thought occurred to me at work this morning; Why are there people who would line up for days in freezing cold to blow 500 bucks on a video game system but when it comes to an election which decides the direction of our country people dont want to have to drive to a voting station for a few minutes in the winter because its chilly?

What I don't get is that these people think that there is going to be absolutely no defects. I mean come on they probably had a bunch of factories running 24 hours a day pumping those off the line, of course there is going to be the odd defect. I wonder if that guy tried returning it and using another one and see if it had defects, I highly doubt it. He has no solid ground to sue M$ and has not enough money either.

I was playing xbox 360 all last weekend and it was running games easily for 4+ hours at a time without any heating issues. I even touched the box and it seemed just as hot as my xbox1 gets.

Can't wait to buy mine sometime after Christmas, pgr3 and PD0 are a blast online.

My friends Xbox360 runs fine, but his buddies does not. He told me that he placed his xbox on an elevated area to have access to air circulation. His buddy had it on top of the carpet!

hopefully mine will work when ever i get it!...i have a feeling that probabley the main reason for thier xbox 360's over heating is because they are unemployed 30 years olds living in thier grandmas basements playing 360 for 3 days straight.:rrg:

im starting to get scared now...my friend preorderd his from futureshop and got it the first day it was out, but he wanted the premium bundle not the core, but when he went to get it they didnt order enough so he had to take a core and they gave him pgr3 for thier mistake. so he could use the core until his premium bundle was in...it came in2 days ago so he brought back the core and paid the difference.so he brings it home and plays call of duty for 20 minutes then gets an error. THEN he puts in another game and the same thing happend...did anyone get the premium bundle and not have a problem? im starting to wish i got the core since it acually worked.

Still, the fact remains that this now is appearing to be more then an "isolated" problem. You can rest assured that the SPS3 will capitalize on these unfortunate bad bacthes and will be testing thier systems out very carefully before they hit the market

I've heard that with all of the EBGames stores around my surrounding area (around 4-5 stores)... of the 32 systems sold by EACH store, only 1 has come back defective. Doesn't seem too bad IMO, plus like it was said earlier, the systems are under warranty. Remember, people made a big deal when the PS2 was scratching the discs beyond repair when it would be placed vertically, not to mention the fact that their first revision consoles had a crappy DVD drive to begin with, and the console was criticized for poor quality control by sony. Same thing happened here, and the same thing will (probably) happen when they release the PS3 and Nin. Revolution. Boo f'n hoo!!! Expect it.

I disagree. they didnt rush it , they have worked on it for a long time and yes releaseing it before xmas is what many companies like to do with a new product.

Lots of hardware has some units that are defective when first released. sony's PSP had alot of complaints about dead pixels, buttons that broke and other things when it released not too long ago.

happens all the time , people are trying to make too big a deal out of it.

dead pixels on the PSP is normal, it is an LCD monitor afterall! When you go out and buy an LCD, sometime you will have 1 or 2 dead pixels. The manufactures will fix the device LCD monitors if you have a lot of dead pixels.

Now buttons breaking is a possibility of cheap plastic material or no padding behind the buttons leading to them breaking.

Now, Xbox 360 is totally different. I heard stories about the DVD not working, another one was the system would hang, another would be the DVD scratches the game, another one would be overheating as we all agree on.

It looks to me that Microsoft knew that Xbox360 would fail infront of PS3 and thats why it quickly wanted its console be out the 1st. Beside, Xbox is a PC afterall! or it uses the same technology as in PC.

As I said before, the amount of faulty consoles versus working ones is very small.
Lots of complaints also come from those who dont have the console. They hear this and that and regurgitate the information. That is the reason there are all these complaints.

If so many of the systems were faulty then at least one of the 7 people i know with one should have a defective one but nope, they are all fine.

If the PS3 is launched and all the units are perfect right off the bat then ill eat my 360 faceplate.

And no Stefen, the 360 isnt a PC. id love to hear how you came up with that though.

Law, look at the graphics of Xbox vs PS2 vs PSP vs GC. Xbox has crisp graphics. and you can use it to install linux, emulators, mp3, videos, jpegs, word files. to make my point short, it is a portable PC/game machine.

Consoles these days have to do more than just play games. They are now multimedia centers. They arent PCs though.

There is one game with a bug, or a bug with the xbox360 dash.In PGR3 when you are loading a game or just starting to hop into a LIVE game in while it's loading hit the Guide button and your 360 will lock up. Only way is to power it down from the big power button on the console. I have done this successfully a couple times. This may be a bug with PGR3 and not the console itself but I've talked with others over live and they can replicate the bug as well but only in pgr3.

So far thats the only complaint I have against 360 and it's easily avoidable so I'm still a happy camper. Can't wait to get mine :d

All of these symptoms you're referring to occurred with every cd/dvd based game console when during each successive release. It's really nothing new. When the PS2 was there was a small percentage that experienced those symptoms as well.

I believe one of the main reasons you hear so much "criticism" for the 360 is that it IS the only current next gen system available. So of course people are gonna capitalize and pick it apart. If SPS3 and Revolution were released as well, you'd be hearing more about all three in comparison to each other as well as the problems that all three consoles WILL have on release. It doesn't matter when Sony releases their console, there's gonna be someone or a small group of people who are gonna have the unfortunate "defective PS3" and then bash sony for selling them a doorstop. People are like that. No company, no matter how rich they are, can guarantee a 100% non-defective console release. The % of defective 360's is small IMHO (like I said before, of all the stores I've visited, there is 1 defective unint for every 30-32 units sold per store), and the reason why it appears that everyone reads so many bad posts about the 360, is that everyone with a working console is too busy enjoying it!!!

Still, I'm gettin the PS3 too anyway!!!!!!

I just aregue with people like you who talk alot but have no real valid points to make.

And yes having to keep upgrading is my problem and i never said it was anyone elses . I personally ( and lots of others agree) dont want to keep upgrading a PC for gaming. All that money, having to install drivers, fix any random problems that happen while installing ..........its just a hastle.

Not to mention nothing very exciting has come out for the PC in a long time IMO.
