why was img command disabled in signature?

i was just curious as to why the img command was disabled in the signature? :confused:

As I remember is way, way, way back. With some Members not following
the rules it became a pain in the butt.

Back in the days, someone people were also linking to a dynamic image that would reveal the reader's IP address, what browser thet used, etc. It broke no privacy rules at all since only the reader would see his own information, but it nonetheless sparked a huge outcry that would never end from people who would not take the time to at least understand what they were seeing. And since the people using those signatures would not stop... well....
