Do I need win64?

Just an interest question...

If I upgrade my system and get and AMD 64 cpu, will I have to upgrade to Window xp 64?

I tried looking it up and I couldn't find anything that states that I need it. The only thing I found was win64 would perform better.

Anyone want to clear this up for me?

you would basically have to upgrade everything including software to take full advantage.
it is backward compatible .. but is it cheap enough to be an early adopter ?

you haev to doubel check with allll of your devices to see if they will work with win64
