Poll Finds Drop in Muslim Support for Terrorism (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/14/AR2005071401030.html)
Osama bin Laden's standing has dropped significantly in some key Muslim countries, while support for suicide bombings and other acts of violence has "declined dramatically," according to a new survey released today.

In a striking finding, predominantly Muslim populations in a sampling of six North African, Middle East and Asian countries are also as alarmed as Western nations about Islamic extremism, which is now seen as a threat in their own nations too, the poll found.

interesting post Bogie. Will this now, as some seem to suggest, solve terrorism?

I think that they do it because they like it and use other explanations as excuses.

I saw the same poll and while I personally believe it is objective but seeing the pollsters were American I doubt whether it would be accepted by the anti-Bush/pro bin laden factions.

Explain the phrase anti-Bush/pro bin laden factions. Who does this refer to? I assume the terrorists, and those actively supporting them?

It will not solve, but help to resolve through "internal" means. Much preferred than "forced upon" by outside influences and action.

Slow process, but one step at a time.

Whether or not "accepted", based on publication, if the poll was scientifically done then it doesn't matter who believes it. If the poll was the honest reaction by Muslim countries, then it is already "in action".

I agree with you but people who are not as open minded as you and I would dispute the poll because if bin laden's position is weakening then they would view this as a victory for Bush....without a whipping boy their lives would be in shambles.

How is Bush responsible for Muslim denouncing Al Quaida's actions? I don't see this as particularly a victory for Bush (although he and others would), I would see it as a victory for human beings. Sorry to burst your bubble. ;)

Just to add Bush would be in a sorry state without his whipping boy OBL. People might notice what kind of shape America is really in.

Admit it Tim......if I quit posting & creating an environment where you make feeble attempts to burst "my bubbles" there time on line would go almost zero and I would hate to think how you would replace the vaccum in your life. I know my silly time would diminish........

That is probably true but it is actually irrelevant.....win or lose he can't run for re-election.

Who cares Walter? I come on here to yap when I put on my morning coffee like a lot of people do, so how does that relate to the thread? When I came back from the cottage I saw that you had like 20 odd threads with 0 response, maybe 1 with a handful, I livened things up for you.
So quit your belly aching and try to stay on topic.
Sorry to... er never mind. :)
