i saw this movie last night and i was very impressed. id definatley go see it again. the story is good, acting was good, visuals were very good. best part in the movie had to be the battle at the end, gave me the chills a few times :D...my only complaints was, how the 2 boys were no stranger to the sword (after both saying they didnt have skills with swords), they just kinda pick them up and were like young Aragorn's and were killing tauren's like nothing.

no, see the movie first, then read the book, otherwise you might get disappointed in the movie, as is the case with all books to movie transitions. :D

Seriously, I recommend this book to anyone who hasn't read it. You can read the entire book in about 2 hours, very short and very simple English.

Narnia Day
We have a special treat on Boxing Day as we bring you 4 of the stories from C. S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia - 'The Magician's Nephew','The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe', 'The Horse and His Boy' and 'Prince Caspian'. With a star-studded cast featuring Paul Scofield as the Storyteller this is an excellent production for the whole family to enjoy. The cast also includes David Suchet as Aslan and Elizabeth Counsell as the White Witch. The Narnia stories will be followed by 'The Northern Irish Man in C. S. Lewis', a dramatisation of the childhood of this well-loved writer.

of course, since that is the 2nd book :D

they better follow in sequence, otherwise, what is the point?

Actually, Lion isn't the first book. "The Magician's Nephew" is the first. Lion is the second. "Prince Caspian" is the fourth book.

The point is that there is no sequence between the Narnia books. They have separate unrelated stories so there's no sequence to follow.

Ever wondered why they say "There are many stories in the world of Narnia. This is one of them"?

but the second book I do believe happens like a year or more after the first. I remember reading a little bit of it. I know that only one or two of the 4 return, but I forget who, and the fact that 100 or more years have passed in Narnia.

I bought the radio theatre version of the Chronicles of Narnia. It is like books on tape but they use sounds and effects to make it seem like you are there. It has 19 cds with the seven books:

The Magicians Nephew
The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
The Horse and his Boy
Prince Caspian
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Silver Chair
The Last Battle

I went and saw this movie last night and all I can say is they did a great job. The main theme of the book was shown perfectly in the movie. I cant wait to get the dvd of this movie.

If you havent seen this movie you should see it.

Disney hasn't yet officially announced it, but dropped enough hints that it will be soon. They are working on a 4-discs extended version of The Chronicles Of Narnia. Expect a detailed announcement any day now.

Screw Disney. At least before the original Fellowship of the Ring dvd release, they had already mentioned of releasing an extended edition, so I waited. I think I got that info from these forums actually, as someone else had pointed it out.

I never buy the same movie twice, no matter how many extras are in it. So if Disney can't tell us beforehand of their intentions, I guess they lose out in me buying an extended edition, since I already bought the original narnia dvd.

oh by the way, in response to the original post. Those aren't tauren, they are minotaur. its not the same thing, minotaur are bulls, tauren are buffalo.

From IGN: July 10, 2006 - With DVD sales of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe doing fantastically well, Disney may be planning to release an extended director's cut of the movie on disc later this year. According to a report at UltimateDisney.com, the studio is considering a special four-disc boxed set that would include scenes and footage cut from the picture's theatrical release.
A few days ago, that was still just a rumor, but there is now official confirmation available at the website of this year's Comic-Con, the popular comic and genre film convention. Apparently, Disney is already preparing to build hype for the director's cut; they'll be showing scenes from the extended film cut at the popular Comic-Con in San Diego later this month. The website's event listing page shares some details:
"Academy Award-winning producer Mark Johnson … will preview never-before-seen footage from the upcoming four-disc limited-edition Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe DVD. You'll see all-new scenes from the director's cut of the film and hear some exciting details about this new release." "Disney's presentation will be held on Saturday the 22nd from 3:45 to 4:45. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest will also be featured, and exclusive collectibles from both films will be made available to attendees."

Buena Vista officially unveiled at Comic-Con plans to release The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - Four-Disc Extended Edition on 12/12 (SRP $42.99). The set will include an all-new 150-minute cut of the film in anamorphic widescreen video, with both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 audio (for the record, the new cut is roughly 10 minutes longer than the theatrical cut). This will be presented on Disc One of the set in its entirety, along with a blooper reel, a Narnia Fun Facts text trivia track, audio commentary with director Andrew Adamson and the child stars of the film, and a second commentary with Adamson and the film's producers. Disc Two will include the Two World of Narnia documentary, broken into three segments. Each segment is composed of its own featurettes as follows: Creating Narnia (including Chronicle of a Director and The Children's Magical Journey), Evolution of an Epic (including Anatomy of a Scene: The Melting River, Cinematic Storytellers, C.S. Lewis: From One Man's Mind and Creating Creatures) and Creatures, Lands & Legends (including Creatures of the World, the Explore Narnia 3-D map and a Legends in Time timeline). Disc Three will offer the all-new and C.S. Lewis: The Dreamer of Narnia feature-length documentary. Finally, Disc Four will include the Visualizing The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: The Complete Production Experience documentary, the Anatomy of a Scene: Behind the Battle featurette and the interactive Art of Narnia Gallery featuring hundreds of production images from the film.

FYI, the Narnia: Four-Disc Extended Edition will also be available for a limited time in a special Gift Set (SRP $79.99) packaged with a pair of collectible bookends created by the artists at Weta Limited. As you may have guessed, both the 4-disc DVD itself, and the Gift Set package, are patterned directly after New Line's Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions. We'll post cover art for both versions of the new Narnia DVDs when we have it.

And in other news... It looks like the new King Kong: Extended Edition will be 13mins longer with over 200 new digital effects shots.
