I am trying to hook up a PalmIIIe to an eMac using a Belkin serial to USB adapter cable.
1) Mac OS 9 successfully installed on the eMac (required as per installation CD that came with the Belkin adapter cable).
2) rebooted the eMac
3) installed the Belkin driver using the installation cd.
4) rebooted the eMac again
5) plugged in the Belkin serial to USB adapter into the free USB port on the side of the eMac.
6) Connected the PalmIIIe serial cable into the Belkin adapter cable.
7) Went to the PalmIIIe and started the hotsync.
8) On the belkin adapter cable the "Link" light stays green... OK so far.
The "RX" light blinks red...
NO "TX" light blinks :(

The following is what I left on Belkin's website comment section...

HELP! on page 3 of your manual for Macinosh Installation.
1) I have successfully installed OS 9 for the eMac as per our instructions.
2) Rebooted the eMac
3) Plugged in the Belkin serial to USB adapter into the eMac's USB port. The Green "LINK" light is ON.
4) When I try to hotsync I see the red RX light blinking but the TX light does NOT blink at all.
5) On page 3 of the manual it says to launch Palm desktop application. Choose "HotSync" from the pulldown menu. Choose "Setup" from th epull-down menu.
6) PROBLEM!! Click on the "Serial Port Settings" tab...
THERE IS NO "SERIAL PORT SETTINGS" :(
HOW do I modify the "SERIAL PORT SETTINGS" when the tab does not exist?
HELP hotmail.com
ANY assistance would be greatly appreciated.

P.S.
I just spent about $50 on the adapter specifically to get the Palm IIIe to work on a brand new eMac.
HELP!!!

can I ask why you would bother with OS 9 (blech pfffthhh pfffthhhh)
Doesn't the serial adapter support OS X?

take it back.

I'd rather run win 98 sometimes before OS 9.
