Hey,

I currently live in a small bedroom on the 2nd floor, but with a desk and bed, theres just no room to work. So I'm trying to convince my parents to let me move into the basement, however, it is an older house. The only windows down there are just big enough for a person to get out of, and there is no secondary stairs to get out from. So my dad doesn't like the idea because, if there ever is a fire, I'll be trapped. Is there any way out? Any options?

Thanks

Put in a larger window. It's required by-law for "basement apartments" Not sure the exact size, but it's in the range of 3x3 ft.

yeah ask him if he's in the shower and there is a fire in the bathroom, then how will he get out? to me they are making more of an issue of this then anything...but thats just my opinion.. anything can happen right? what if a plane crashes into your house? the potential is there, doens't mean it will happen
