Picked this up on Saturday at Sunrise Records for $15.99. It's actually a 2 DVD set. This has the whole show he performed at Woodstock all those many years ago. I believe there have been other DVDs/CDs released up till now, but this is the first that has the complete show from into to exit. I have no idea how long the show was, no timing on the DVD notes, plus i didn't check the DVD. I have seen some of the songs before (Star Spangled Banner, Purple Haze). I just watched & listened to the amazing guitar playing. If you've not seen him play, pick this up.
They also included some interviews with the guy who started the festivel (Michael Lang) who said that he actually wanted to have Roy Rogers close the show by singing "Happy Trails" but couldn't get him. Also other interviews with the guys who were on stage with him at Woodstock.
The second DVD is an interesting one. It is also a record of the full show as well. But it was recorded by a guy who snuck on to the side of the stage, set up his camera & recorded the show in Black & White using 1/2 inch video tape. Everybody thought he was a member of the film crew so didn't bother him. He actually filmed a song that the main crew missed. He got "Hear My Train A Comin" when the real crew didn't, as the real crew had stopped filming at that point to reload & reposistion the cameras.
The booklet that comes with the DVD's says this guy got to show the film to Hendrix who loved it. He then put the film away & forgot about it till recently. The package is authorised by the Hendrix Estate as well. Lots of interviews too. All in all, for a Hendrix fan, a great deal for $15.99
