Titanic comes to mind... but this is also a remake of an older movie. If I remember correctly, the Poseidon story is a real one.

The Poseido Adventure was a great movie for it's time. Hope the new version doesn't wreck the memories of the original.

There were two movies the Poseidon Adventure and beyond the Poseidon Adventure. I have both movies. I love them both and hope the new version keeps the story
line.
