Does anyone know were I can find instructions on replacing a HD in my laptop? I have no problem with the physical aspect but once the drive is in - how do you start to load all of the software from the cd rom if the rom drivers are not in the new HD? Anyone?

Look at its manufacturer website for instruction. I changed my Dell HD in less than 5 minutes (unscrew 2 screws).
Buy a harddrive enclosure and put your old hard drive in. Use Norton Ghost to clone the new hard drive.

easy way is to go into the lap tops bio's and tell it to boot from the cdrom.
this can be done by rather pressing the del key as it boots up or the f8 key.
some odd laptops have a key marked for this.
theres also a good chance that its setup to check the floopy and cdrom first on boot up.
so put your copy of xp (i am guessing) and restart the computer and read what pops up on the screen.
if nothing then do the steps above.
