The computer and CD drive is roughly five years old. Its most likely hanging on for its life, as its terribly outdated.

Ive played many audio cd's using my computer, but this latest one ive purchased is causing odd noises. The second the CD is accessed in Windows Media Player or any other program, it sounds like the CD drive is using way too much effort to play the CD. At first, it almost sounds like its going to explode.

It lessens after a while, but im still concerned. It only does it during this CD.

Does anybody know what is possibly wrong? Solutions?

Thanks.

If it truly is just this one CD that does it, then there's a defect in that CD... it's probably off balance.
And if that is the case, it will damage your CD player if you keep playing it.
Try returning it to the store for a replacement

Maybe this particular CD has other features… maybe video clips, games or whatever of a different format. And your old computer/CD reader is having trouble reading the different formats.

Burn a copy on a rewritable CD and see if the same thing happens.
