Ok.. I installed Suse 10 Evaluation and now I want to format back to Windows XP. It keeps booting back to Linux and wont let me install XP.. I tried deleting all the partions then it gives me an error. I tried installing Windows XP from a boot CD and it restarts every time after the screen "scanning hardware configuration"

Im at a point where I can only reinstall linux and not windows, the XP boot cd doesnt work but the linux one does.

What do i need to do to get rid of Suse Linux? It wont let me format!

Try Uncle Bill's solution (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314458).

now that all partitions are removed, use a windows 98 boot diskette and after it loads and you get to A:> type in "fdisk /mbr" without the quotes and reboot with windows cd in drive and continue your install

if you need a win98 bootdisk goto win98_disk (http://www.dehning.com/download/utilities/bootdisks/boot98.exe)

good luck

If you choose to decide to remove just the bootloader (either GRUB or LILO, only if you have a dual-boot system, sorry if it's not related to this scenario), you can simply go for the fdisk /mbr command. That removes the Bootloader. To remove the linux partitions on the 2nd hard drive you have (these are the only instructions I can give to you, I don't know how to remove Linux partitions on the same hard drive as Windoze), you can use partition magic of delpart. Partition Magic can be found either on a trial version (correct me if i'm wrong) or from Hiren's Boot CD.

To obtain Hiren's boot CD, do a google search, download the file, do an md5sum first and then burn it to a CD using your favourite CD burner creator program - usually Nero, Alcohol or Roxio.

Hope this helps.

IMHO just use killdisk, that to me is the simplest solution to completely removing Linux.
