I'm trying to transfer a VHS tape to DVD with the ADS DVD Express. I am using a Sony VHS tape machine. On the preview screen the tracking is off and the top of the video is off. The tape machine is so old that by the time I search the house and find the manual the DVD format will be obsolete. Any one remember how to adjust the tracking through the remote control?
Thanks,
Neal.

should be a "trk" button on the remote hit that and hit + -.
if its an older model look for a thumb wheel on the player itself.

I found an old generic Sony manual that is near useless. When I tried copying I noticed that the tracking was off. Now I will have to wait for an hour for the ADS machine to decide whether it wants to work again and then I will try and get the 'menu' screen from the tape machine up in the ADS window and try to make adjustmants from there.

Oh Ya, no "trk" or wheel that I can find.

Good news! I found my glasses. I had lent them to the coffee table last night apparently, and as a result I can now see the tracking adjustment on the VCR. As soon as the ADS has it's break I'll give it another go.

Now that I have copied the video to the hard drive I can't burn it with Ulead Movie factory.
"Problem with source". "File won't open". Poor software or Pilot error? I guess it's time for Nero.

Yes I will have to resort to Nero. Just that I liked the look in Ulead Movie Factory and wished I could get it to work. Still couldn't fix the darn tracking problem. The tape sure looked better on the TV than it did in the CapWix window. We'll have to see how the DVD turns out.

Thats the problem with vhs small problems don't show on the tv
but cause big problems when captured. This is normal I have some
old tapes taken off antenna they look worse after capturing. The
best that can be done is to soften them. But that too is a trade off
in quality.
