It took an extra 100mhz on the cpu o/c but I finally reached 30k... I know, I know lots of people have done it but it seemed like I'd never get there.

please explain 30K for us noobs
now overclocking is when u raise the speed of ur CPU, that i know
in ur pic there is something about 3D?

3dmark2001 is a benchmarking application which gives a performance number based on your hardware. Based on graphics card and overall system performance.
wow 2.6 man...thats more than a 4800+. even tho the 1mb cache ones are toledo are they still good ocers? i was thinking of grabbing either a 4400+ or a 4600+ what would you recommend?

4400+ since you'll get the extra cache and they'll both o/c to about the same speed. The 30k run was done with the CPU at 2700mhz. :)

w00t!... that's a great OC on the chip lbjgh!!! Nice job. Do you run your rig at 2700 all the time or was this just to see if you can break 30K? I can run my chip at 2700 as well, and it passes all burn in test except for OCCT, which failed at the 10 hour mark.... so I downed it back to 4800+ speeds. I suspect it's my ram but who knows.. i'll have to check it later.

I haven't had much time to play with things to see how stable the 2.7ghz overclock is but I can't run the memory at 1:1 at 2.7ghz. To run 2700mhz I had to run the memory at 133mhz max speed (or around 180mhz actual).
p.s. I replaced my psu with an OCZ 520w powerstream since my Vantec 400w was not providing enough juice with my current gear.
so fatal1ty hsf, amd x2 4400+ and 500W psu is a good combo? I am scared that the hsf is too heavy :( ...i think thinking of getting a lian-li pc-75 server case.

It is heavy, but as long as you're careful, it should stay put. I wouldn't put your pc in the backseat of a car and go off roading with that heatsink in, but as long as it stays relatively steady you should be fine. I'm pretty sure there are heavier heatinks out there. The thermaltake all copper tower112 is about as heavy as the Fatal1ty, but because of the way it's made (145.5mm tall), you'd have to resort on laying your motherboard on it's horizontal so that gravity doesn't tear it off the pcb should you have it in a regular mid/full tower case. Just make sure you mount your mobo securley to the case and you should be fine
then i guess i'll get the fatal1ty...i don't do offroading :P...i saw that thermaltake cooler in the store the other day looks fugly hehe. But i am getting a server tower because i want alot of room in my case good for cabling and air flow... probably going to get the case/psu/hsf tonite and wait till boxing day to get everything else. as they don't have my video card yet. i've decided on the ASUS X1800XT..but it hasn't been shipped yet :(

What type of PSU do ya have?

just outta curiousity, are you doing this overclocks just based on fsb tweaking, or are the multipliers on the X2's unlocked....like how do uptain these results..im unfamilar with the new x64 style..i know there is a hypertransport bus and all.. with 200mhz fsb x5 or something

I was running 10x270htt=2.7ghz with 3x HT (LDT multiplier) = 810mhz DDR (1620mhz fsb in Intel terms :) ). Memory was set at 133mhz max memory which is similar to 133/200 divider but is actually a derivative of the overall clock speed. Vcore of 1.55v, Vchipset of 1.75v and Vdimm of 2.91v.
and what temps you getting on that system with your Zalman cooler?

Mid 30's idle and mid 50's under load.
heh i just got some final decisions to make (hsf, case, video card) then i'll get them video card meaning its not out yet :P. so may have to get a diff one if i plan to build my system some time soon. but i shall post some benchies when she's up

I made a few tweaks and overclocked my video card with Cat 5.13 beta...

WHAT!!! Simply Awesome... :)
compgeek does the fatal1ty cooler run at max speed all the time, or is there a temp controller? how do you control it if at all?

It does not come with a fan speed controller ( you have to get it separately). I just happened to have a Zalman fan speed controller from another cnps 7700 that was given to me from a buddy who didn't need the controller. I hooked it up so I can have control of the fan. I did have it running through Q-fan in the bios, but like I said before, the heatsink worked so efficiently that it would actually almost spin down to a stop (kinda worried me at times). That's why I hooked it up to the Zalman fan speed contoller II.
so it would never sound the max dB of 42 as advertised?!?!?! just bought it now have to wait till boxing day to build this thing :(

It never went to max speed, even on full load... when i DO turn it up to max, it's still not loud enough for me to become annoying or anything.

Very nice buddy..:)
I'll have to see what I can do on that old benchmark..
Though this new board of mine is not to OC friendly..
It's a plain Asus A8N-SLI Vanilla board..
I can barly get an extra 100mhz out of it before bluescreening...
I have not been able to find out to much on this board..
Anyway good job dude..

hehe, gets better with a bit of overclocking too..

Doesn't your Asus board have the NF4 chipset... it should be ok for overclocking...

I don't know if this is good or not???

Well that depends on the rezolution you are running..
If it's a default settings score that is awsome..
If it's a 640x480 score well that's another story..
What hardware are you running?
You should have a sig..
I don't know if this is good or not???

I actually meant my photo-chopping skills, but thanks for playing along with me. :)
I have no idea what you guys are talking about, I just wanted to belong. ;)
