next time you see the screen look for a box to disable (not show again)
and check it. I have never seen the xp one this info comes from win98
and it may be in a different place in xp...

Theirs a Tweak For this, ITs from Microsoft, Its Called Tweak UI. All you have to do is look through the options for something about the login Screen, and just set it to the account you want it to auto log into, and if theirs a password enter it.
Also if you want to save a little bit of ram and have a bit faster login and all. I would recommend switching to the old Login Style (Its like Windows 2000 Login). If you do this after you switch it just go into Tweak UI and put the auto login, YOU MUST DO TWEAK UI AFTER YOU SET AUTOLOGON.
Setting the Login style to the old one will also change your ALT CTRL DEL to the Windows Security screen, which I personally like better.

You can also just do it via XP...
Start ... Settings... Contol Panel ... User Accounts
Under pick a task.. Select... "Change the way the user logs on or off"
Uncheck... "Use the Welcome Screen"
