Alright. This is a question for all of you XBOX 360 guys. Which of the games you bought is your favourite? And if you play it on a Standard TV how does it look? I know launch games are not usually that...great.

Thanks :)

ive heard lots of comments from renters on the King Kong game, someone on an HD tv thought they were watchin the movie.... im not to sure how reliable that was but its something im expecting from 600 dollars of gaming machine.... lol

Call of Duty is probably the best game on the system right now...
PDZ or maybe PGR is supposedly the best online game
depends on what you like...

How it hooks up: LINK (http://www.xbox360hd.net/cables.html)
I have an HDTV, and to REALLY take advantage of the console you need an HDTV.. but without the games still look better than the xbox, but it's debatable if its $500 better...

Go to your local future shop and try it out!

I would assume that futureshop has it running on HD... so that wouldn't really help.

After looking at some high-res shots on some forums... I can definately see a difference in some of the pictures but it's not as massive as some are leading people to believe. I think I might pick one up and check it out for myself.

Nuke,

You are absolutely right, Future Shop and EB Games both use HD to demonstrate the 360 (wonder if they were instructed to do so?)

Certainly makes the graphics impressive indeed.

so far i have call of duty 2, perfect dark zero and project gotham racing 3...

call of duty 2 is the most fun to me but a pretty short game.

perfect dark zero is very hard and i was a little disapointed with the multiplayer modes offline, graphics are beautiful.

project gotham racing 3 has amazing graphics and is very fun to play.

my most favourite is call of duty 2, then pgr3 then pdz...i just bought NBA 2K6, so ill let you kn ow how that is :D

and i think it looks just fine on my normal tv..

I'd say PGR3 is my favorite. On a standard tv it is noticeable that text on the screen is very hard to read at times and sometimes impossible to make out at all. I've noticed this in both PD0 and PGR3. Game still look incredible either on standard and High def tv's. Also don't count on Futureshop having their setup running in high def. I've seen some that are definatley not running in high def on some kiosks which is kind of misleading because people are assuming this and go on to believe high def isn't all that great.

I have also witnessed Kong running at a futureshop and I would say it looks very close to movie cinematics at times but not all the time. I've heard only good things about the game though and I might even give it a rent to check what it's all about.

I find Live is integrated into pgr3 kinda sloppy but PD0 is very easy to find a game and quickly pick and play online.

You should go to Zellers they are selling their games for 20$ off. My bro got COD2 this morning there for $49.99

Also I second getting Condemned. So far I think it's the most impressive game at launch for me.

I have:
Need for Speed Most Wanted - Great online, fun offline
Kameo - gorgeous looking and fun
Condemed - almost shat myself playing alone at night!!!!
King Kong - Fun, and great looking, tonnes of extras, but main story is pretty short
Perfect Dark Zero - Great online, and fun offline
Geometry Wars Evolved - highly addictive XBOX Live Arcade game.

What I have paid for in full, and am waiting for at EB:
DOA 4
Elder Scrolls Oblivion
Ghost Recon 3 (whenever the heck this decides to surface)

So far, I'm pretty impressed with my 360... love the fact that I can stream video, pics and music from my PC upstairs to my entertainment center downstairs using Media Center Extender - only downside is no DivX support :(

Hey Compy, if you do so happen to get your hands on that demo disc floating around the net there is a way to uncompress the files and then take out all the garbage demos and videos and put in a WMV-HD video and then you have an x360 that can play High def movies.

I have not done this myself but it is possible if you have the tools and the know how. I'm sure you could prolly do it with Qwix or some similar tool.

I played Incu_hoob's 360 quite a bit (he brings it over every once and a while), I must say PDZ is my favourite game. It's really good. I've heard some bad things, but it reminds me a lot of classic shooters like Goldeneye, I love it.

As of now PC and console stand on the same ground graphically and will continue to do so I think for the lifespan of the consoles. Consoles are only around what 5 - 6 years and even longer I think for ps2. I mean look at xbox it's running Doom3 and I must say it runs very good and looks very good for such an underpowered machine. I'm pretty sure x360 and ps3 have no problem running Unreal3 engine and thats probably not using it to the full potential.

Controls are a different story.......I prefer mouse and keyboard combo over a controller but even the controllers nowadays rock even for fps games.

I think that consoles have finally closed the gap in terms of graphics though and I believe will continue throughout the rest of their lives especialyl since the GPU companies ATI and Nvidia are the ones designing the video cards. JUst take a look at the R500 chip specs in the 360 it's mindblowing and not a single pc gpu has it's capabilities yet or are just coming to market.

Just a rant I'm bored...........

the doom 3 that xbox is running is a port of the original, the textures have all been reduced in quality as well with many other things that are required when porting a game to console.

The majority of users playing on PS3 and X360 will be on standard TV's, without the high def resolutions (that you get with a PC) so about 75% of users are on 480 setting, not the best...

I just think that the major problems with consoles these days is that games are waaayyy too multiplatform. Pretty much every game made by a big company is on Xbox/ps2/GC/PC. I think it would be a great idea to bring back the independant games (Only on 64, Only on XBox, etc) just so theres some difference between the game selection, cuz as of now, since most of the interesting games out there are coming out for PC as well as console, theres no point in me getting a next gen system.
The reason 64 and PSX had such a huge war was because of the difference in games! It was rare to see a game that was available on both. I loved my 64 with Mario, Starfox, Zelda, DK, Super Smash Bro's and would PREFER those memories to the memories I had with my Xbox (before I modded it and got all the oldschool emulation) but I'm a classic gamer...which leads me to my closing statement.

Everything I said above is strictly opinion based, I don't mean to pass anything off as fact..

I sort of agree with you where multiplatform games are becoming the norm but if you look at nintendo they are still sticking to their guns with all their mario series. I also agree that the 480 on a standard TV is not the greatest but in order to play any of your pc games that look as good as the x360 you gotta have a beast of a video card as well. I've been playing x360 over the holidays since my bro has it and I must say there is little to no jaggies even on a standard TV which I find very impressive. Only downfall is that TEXT is crap in games. It's either in your way (COD2 multiplayer) or so damn small you can't read it (pgr3 controller buttons on screen) and it's because their making it for High Def and standard tv's which kinda sucks.

Ah well everyone has there preference because there will always be pros and cons for pc and consoles but I'd say they are almost the same these days. If only you could use a mouse and keyboard to play games on a console I'd prolly drop off the pc gaming scene completely.

and yes....I'm bored once again, so much time off for the holidays. Jeez is this what retirement is gonna feel like??

And those guns have been firing blanks for a while now. Too many mario titles that suck.

agreed law, they need to stick with the basics. I want another Mario platformer that was Mario 64...i dont want sunshine, paper mario, mario party or any other variation, just classic mario (or even the 64 stuff where you have to get stars).
