NFSU2 problem ..

Hey people ! , i decided to give need for speed underground 2 another try since im bored and have a couple days off so ... anyways enough about my life , the problem is that with the newest nvidia drivers + the latest patch for nfsu2 i can't raise the level of detail one bit or the game freezes like mad and all i hear it 1second of sound every 2 min .... if i leave the details at low and boost the resolution its fine , but i cant touch the detail level tab at all ... any ideas?

System specs
Amd barton 2500 mobile at 3200speeds
2x512 pc3200
Abit nfs7 rev 2
Vanilla 6800 ( unlocked vertex shader + oc'ed to 400-800 stable without artifacts)
200 gig maxtor
using onboard sound ( audigy ls is disabled )
500watt monster mod psu
other normal pc components hehe

So far ive tried reinstalling the drivers , updating the game , clean resintall of the game ... no go .. maybe im missing something ? like i said , the game runs fine as long as i dont touch the level of detail tab in display options .. if i do ... well game freezes as sson as i boost the details and im forced to shut down my pc because i can't alt-tab the game , i cant open up task manager , can't close the game because my entire system just freezes up and comes back for a second every 2 min .. hehe ... anyways i hope you people can help and please just let me know if you need more info http://images.techimo.com/timo_images/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

Directx version maybe?? Hmm never seen anything like this before.

Which drivers are are you using? I'm running NFS2 Underground on 6600GT o/c with ver.77.72 WHQL Certified with no problems. Also, there is a program called EasyInfo.exe in C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Need for Speed Underground 2\Support Run diagnostics, check all hardware has green check or info mark. Might want to contact EA tech support.

Older Drivers did the trick perfectly .. now the only problem is cs:source and all my other games perform better on the latest drivers ... damn ... lol ( im using the 61.34 atm )



RCdraft , i tried the 77.72 drivers and i cant touch the level of detail , since with the 61.34 i can max everthing out and the frames never drop below 45... weird ...
