Well one of the best Tab site MXTABS has been shutdown which I think is a load of crock and I'm sure the other sites like Ultimateguitar and 911tabs will begin to go down over time.
What I think is unfair is that TABS are musicians interpretations of the songs not the official tabs so how can they justify shutting the sites down?? I can maybe see Lyric sites having crossed the line but not TABS.
It's already so expensive to even afford to start playing music and now they wanna make it even more expensive because eventually we'll have to buy all our TABS from the music stores. Those books are expensive too!!
What do you fellow musicians feel on this matter?

?? you are making it sound like they are told legally to shutdown the site for they are breaking some kind of copyright law (like the sharing of music etc.)..
All I can see is that Mxtabs closed it's doors --- by the people that were running it..
maybe they got bored, maybe they just didn't feel like running it anymore..
So I don't see a problem.. There are tons more out there.

Quite sad that some people insist on finding profit in anything they can remotely grab their hands on. This hurts artists, composers, arrangers, and performers. The only people that really profit from moves such as these are the corporations.
We should really rename the term "music industry" because it really has nothing to do with musicians and their listening audiences. Just a bunch of greedy people who make money off of work other people do.

Yea I agree, I think artist wouldn't mind so much if maybe those record labels would actually give them more of their hard earned money.

How does making tabs hurt artists? People who want to be able to play a song for fun causes sales to plummit? Come on..
And how can posting the lyrics to a song hurt sales? Sometimes you can't understand what the singers are saying.. It's not like you're downloading mp3's of the song off these sites, it's all text... That's really gonna hurt your sales... :cti:
Closing down sites for tabs is ridiculous... Tabs are for educational purposes... So I guess we're gonna have to start paying big money for our kids to get into elementary school, can't have them learning for free now can we??? That would be outragerous we need to suck money from every cracl possible.... Give me a break.
I'm sorry to hear this news, it's truely sad.

They can't tell the pro from the amateur, so the amateur suffers.
Sampling a song is permitted, for but a few bars. Royalties have to be paid if you go too far into the song.
That's how it is.

Don't know if anyone is still following this thread but these sites are still open and some are obviously better than others.
