New RIG!!!!

Hey guys,

Finally got my new rig its about damn time....My sig has the specs...I just built it yesterday so I actually haven't tried anything out, i'll benchies soon enough...All I know is I am getting 100fps in FEAR :D..and call of duty 2 looks fantastico!! and i've seem to have oced mine 1mhz by accident I was fooling around with the ASUS Ai tool...you can do alot in there. I'll post back with results. Cabling was well done too for once I must say took my time on that

One minor note - a number of people have been putting 2GB of ram into their new systems. Did you ever consider this?

Would like to know for future reference.

i was going to...but then i was too lazy to drive to canada computers :P... i'll figure out if i want it by the end of the week. it'd be an extra $300 if i got it. and yes it would probably make a difference

well i've actually been having some software troubles...for one it'll see the full size of one of my hd's but it'll cut the other one from 250gb down to 120gb so i've been doing alot of reinstalls trying to figure out the problem...thing was it was working before as far as those pics are concerned. i have no camera right now :( i will by monday hopefully... using laptop atm :P

lol its ok...not taking an pics tilll i got it working :P pissing me off. bios sees 250gb but Windows XP Pro Setup sees 131gb .... im gonna install everything and see what partition magic can do for me

When xp is installed, Right click My Computer>Manage

on the right side click>Storage> Disk Managment

you should be able to format the rest of the space from there that windows does not see. It will just be another partition.

about your software troubles..
Is the problem drive the one that you are installing winxp on?
and the drive that gets recognized at 250G is a secondary drive?
If so you need a WinXP version that has SP2 slipstreamed into it..

Yep, just like jamie says, you're probably using a windows XP Pre-service pack cd which means that it will not recognize any hard disks beyond 120GB in size. You'll need a WinXP install cd which has service pack 1 or 2 slipstreamed onto it.

yeah it was the stupid service pack 2 issue. I tried installing also winxp x64 but I have no valid keys for it :P.

I will get some benchies up soon...All I can say is i've already gotten it up to 2.3 from 2.2 :D i know its not much but im still getting the hang of my new system...

oh yeah for sure...I am probably going to get a fan speed controller so i can disable it...because I found c'n'q will not put my cpu up full when im running benchmarks..so i haven't been getting the hoped for results.

Not to hijack the thread but I have a question about the RAM. I have a hyper threading board with 4 ram slots. I have a 256mb ram stick in slot 1 and another 256mb ram in slot 3. - So 512 ram currently. If I were to upgrade to 1G ram total lets say, do I need to divide it equally? meaning get 1x 512 stick and put it in slot 1 and then put the 2x256 sticks and put them in slot 3 & 4...?? does that make a difference if channel 1 has more ram than channel 2?

as long as you don't get BSOD then your fine....worst thing that will happen is your mother board/cpu will run at the lowest speed of your ram sticks..therefore if you have pc3200 and pc3500 or pc will run at pc3200 order shouldn't matter

thanks for the answer... Just wondering.. if I put both ocz 512's in channel 1 and my old 256's in chanel two will it make a difference that one channel has 1 gig ram and channel two only has 512?

shouldn't matter no....just mean you have more ram. i know people that do that. in fact i know somebody who bought 2 of my kits and is now running 2gb = 4x512 sticks. just try to make sure they are the same speed. and if at all possible the same brand

Alright boys....finally got this system up and running. got sooo many games installed :P.. so these are what i've turned up so far. and these are stock everything results.. altho that 2nd aqua mark was a oc from 2.2 to 2.3 stable. guys like ?!?!?!!

i can probably get that aqua mark over 80k just alil more processor boost. like i said that 2nd bench of aqua was done on a 100mhz oc with c'n'q disabled ...that feature was kinda pissing me off :P
