Xbox 360 controller question

ok, kinda hard to explain, but...when i am playing pgr3 and sign in the second player, after im done with that game and i want to play lets say, call of duty 2. how do i sign the second controller off, i know how to turn it off but then this thing flashes on teh screen saying. PLEASE CONNECT SECOND CONTROLLER, and i dont wana waste the batteries. so instead of turning the 360 off how can i get it back to one controller being signed on?

Are you "signed in" with a profile on the second controller? If you are, you have to sign out first. Then you can turn the "unsigned" controller off regularly the way you normally do. I believe to sign out you simply press the main "XBOX 360 Guide" button on the second controller to bring you to the user profile menu, and press the blue "x" button to sign out of the profile. The Xbox 360 needs at least one controller with the profile tagged to it. Hope this helps...
