Hi. Would this DVD writer/player work with my system? http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10055584&catid=10475&logon=&langid=EN
The system I have is.

I have a 8X DVD-ROM player and want to try and play/burn DVDs with this

I bought that very same burner only a couple weeks ago. I am not sure where you are located, but I bought mine at Canada Computers (www.canadacomputers.com) for $59.99 OEM. Also, if you wish to purchase a computer, i believe it is Computer Warehouse Outlet (www.cwo.ca), they advertised an off lease computer P4 2ghz for $399, with 40gb hd, 256mb ram, and WinXP. Just a suggestion...

will it work proberly but it would suck the life out of the computer burning.

as was said you may need to upgrade.

One of my customers burns DVDs on a Celeron 500 but he has 512MB of RAM. It's still very slow but it works.
