Has anyone here tried the packaged pie crust from Costco....there's 10 tops and bottoms in a box ...they run around $10 a box?:rrg:

No, but I'm curious as to whether they are lard or shortening based.

I would assume, now this is just how I see it, that there would be a price reflection depending on which fat they used...would there not?

I don't think there's a difference in price between lard and shortening, if there is it would be negligible. I've seen them but not tried them yet. Costco has a good return policy, if you buy something and it's awful they'll take it back. I have used the tart shells they sell, some obscure brand, and they're really good.

Then, it may be worth the venture!

I've found with Costco that if it's around for more than a couple of months it's a safe bet that it's good. They get rid of stuff that doesn't sell well very fast.
