View Full Version : Recycle Folder Left After Format

hello guys n gals, my dad is having an issue, when he goes into dos to format a drive, it'll format fine n show in dos that it is completly empty but when he reboots into windows xp pro n goes onto the drive there is one empty folder on the drive called "RECYCLED". he tried deleting the folding in dos n windows xp pro but he can't, it says it's being used. he tried deleting n formating the drive with the format command in dos, f-disk, and partition magic.
any help/suggestions would be well appriciated

I don't think it's left after the format, I think XP places one on each partition. I'll check later, I'm not on a Windows machine at the moment. Anyhow it's not a problem, the drive or partition can still be used and the folder takes up no space.

ya i no, it's just anoying him cause he only getting that on that machine right now......i've had it happen on my comp too before but forget what i did if i even did anything to stop it.....i don't have it on my comp right now.

windows recreates it you may right click on it see if you can disable it
in the properties.

aight, my dad figured it out, or at least it was the case with his issue. he had stuff in the recycle bin which most likely was from the drive he formated. he emptied the recycle bin n now it's 100% to his liking.
