have linspire live cd but it doesn't have the option to install, where can i get copy that will. any help would be nice james

well I an a newbie myself and have tried linspire now working with debian
not the easy one to work with but free. there are many out there and most
have a live cd so you can try it and then download the install. just make sure
that there is a free install available. the one I am using is here http://www.nl.debian.org/CD/

but I would not recommend it for a newbie.

I just jumped in with both feet and still learning as I go:)

Good easy distributions would be Mepis or Ubuntu.

In Mepis you boot into the operating system and can install from there. You can surf of do otherstuff while you install.

thank you tsehou i downloaded ubuntu have it installed with xp it works great.just need to find a linux for newbies book thanks for help tsehou:)
