minimize and maximize slow

hello , when i have windows media player 10 open any open window on xp moves like it's in slow-mo but when i close wmp it speeds up again to normal it seems the processer is going to about 50% when minimizing when Wmp is open and only 8% when it's closed any one know how to fix this iam at a loss:rrg:

my specs are

P4 2.66 ghz
640 megs of ram
Ati 9250 256 running Cat 5.6 drivers tried the 5.7 but still no change
scaned for spyware and viruses nothing , ran a defrag

all drivers up to date, ive restarted the machine i was doing a bit of gaming before but it seems to be working normally now. thanks anyway

not really an answer but I would be interested to know what is running
with mp10 when its up. you could do ctrl+alt+delete when mp10 is off
then do it when its on see if there is anything els loading with it.
just a thought.
