I highly doubt you will get a 1.8 ghz laptop with a 40 gig hd in it for less tanh $1000. You are probably looking more in the range or $2000-2500 for those specs.

Those are barebone laptops. They wont have near what you want in them. Its all the extras that are going to raise the price considerably.....ie...larger hd, more ram etc.
