Really, with the size of the internet, why can't i find the answer to the following question.
what is the difference between Windows XP PRO and Media Center 2005.
To my knowledge, and i'm most likely wrong, MCE 2005 is just PRO w/ the addition of the media center aspect.
like, is it just basically XP PRO?
i don't know how to explain it better.
reason for the question, is it possible to go from MCE 2005 to XP Pro?:vxd:

You are almost right about Media Center being XP Pro with Media bits added, certainly that is what most salesmen seem to be saying - but that is not quite true.
Certainly, it is probably nearer to Pro than Home, and for most home users, I doubt that there will be no noticable differences (as in missing features).
Apparrently, all the 'missing' bits are to do with advanced networking features on a full server network (which aren't even available on a peer to peer one), but I cannot confirm that the cuts do not go any further since I have never found a definitive answer.
The useful features like Gpedit.msc (which is not present in Home) are still there - I checked one in a shop!
Unfortunately, the previous link may be of little use, since it contains conflicting opinions, some which by the nature of the conflict must be incorrect.

it's between Home and Pro.
There is no ability to register a domain. so it's not pro.
and it's not home for it's Media Center aspect.
