View Full Version : Prepaid
With prepaid cards you activate then use for like 20 cents a minuted but are there any connection fees and is long distance covered, by that i mean will they come out of the prepaid minutes at a higher rate or will be charged?

Each company is different. It will usually say right on the card if there is an activation fee or not.

I have a Virgin cellphone (prepaid). When I activite a new card the full face value is credited to my account. I haven't made any long distance calls, so I don't know about that.

I use PC Mobile Prepaid Cards. Each local call is .20 cents a minuet & long distance is an additional .25 cents a minuet for a total of .45 cents a minuet. This comes directly out of my prepaid minuets. However, I have purchased a prepaid long distance calling card, which reduces the long distance rate to 4.3 cents a minuet. Because of this, I am only charged .20 cents per minuet regardless. Works great for me.
if i buy a phone from rogers will a fido prepaid card work for the phone?

I would say no however the rumour going around is that new Rogers and Fido phones are unlocked to be interchangable between each provider. At least i've seen one case where this was true. Right now I say you should buy a phone from the provider you'd like to use.
