We just downloaded Windows Media Player 9 and now my mouse makes a clicking noise everytime I use my mouse through the speakers. How do I stop this noise as it is driving me nuts?
I have Win98SE with Microsoft IntelliMouse. It didn't make this noise until I downloaded Windows Media 9.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

go to control panel click on sounds.
here you will find all the event sounds.
you can select and test the sounds you want
or "none" for the sounds you don't.

I have the same annoying click whenever I click anything with the mouse or in here, if the shoutbox refreshes. There is a way to shut this off but I cant seem to find it in control panel under sounds.

I'm not sure if this will work or not, but try going into IE > Tools > Internet options > Advanced and scroll down to the heading of 'multimedia' and uncheck 'play sounds in web pages'
Give that a shot ;)

Nope. Still the same thing. I know I have fixed this before and I thought if I can figure out how to stop it in mine, it might be the same solution as nuttynesie needs.

I think I may have figured it out. In control panel, under sounds, volume tab, device volume, click the advanced tab and put a check mark in the mute box under Wave. Not sure yet if this has stopped sounds in other ares yet but it got rid of the annoying click.
These are solutions I could find:
1) Go into system sounds and disable the sound on "Windows Explorer"... "Start Navigation"
2) is this a cordless mouse??? if so maybe it's R/F being transmitted to your sound card..maybe try changing the channel..most of those critters have two just for such problems. if not a cordless maybe new drivers from the OEM???
Does this do it?

Yes Deb, that fixed it. I even tested it by unmuting the wave part as stated above and no clicking now. :yhh:

Well you could just use FireFox / Mozilla / Netscape.... none of them make 'clicking' noises :d
Try this. Go to Sounds, and you will see a list if sounds for each event. Just scroll down to "Start Navigation" and either disable the sound or change the "start.wav file to another sound file!
And another cause could be:
It is caused by Pest patrol cookie cruncher. Search for cookie crunch.wav and delete it. Silence is golden
