I am in Ajax and I have Rogers High Speed and I use the supplied Rogers cable modem, a rather non-descript Blue vertical Terayon cable modem. When we first got Rogers High Speed a year and a half ago, I asked if I could use my own modem and they said yes, but there was no price difference. I paid for modem rental no matter what. Has anything changed? I will check with my local Rogers people, but I am just wondering if anybody has had any experience using their own modem with Rogers, and NOT paying the modem rental fees. Thanx.

Just checked my bill, no fee for modem and I don't own it. Same one they issued me years ago when first signed on.

Theres a fee its just included in the bill so it looks like your not paying for it.
And no you must use one of there modems.

correct. You can use your own modem as long as its one Rogers supports as they suggested there is no price difference because you own your own. I have my own modem and I'm paying the same price.

With the Motorola Surfboard SB5100 you will get Rogers Extreme package.

I dint notice anything but I bought my modem like 7 months ago, so I could get high-speed extreme. Am I going to have to pay more?

Probably not, unless you take digital services too. Which modem did you buy?

Ijust got a letter from Rogers stating that they will be charging 42.00 monthly rental for the modem. I'm surprised anyone still has a terryon modem, as Rogers started a replacement program over a year ago. my speed went up almost 50% with the new modem ( I think it is Motorola).

$42.00 just for the modem? What service? I use high speed "regular". Not extreme and not lite, just regular.
Is there any other "cable internet service" I can use other than Rogers that I can use and save on modem rental charges? I cannot go DSL because where I am moving there is no DSL. Just sold my DSL modem too.
