Im looking into getting
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pr...ogon=&langid=EN
-Graphics: ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M IGP With 128MB DDR (Dedicated)
as well, from my understanding the videocard is almost a x300 not quite though but it is dedicated which is important.
I was reading on the NWN2 boards (neverwinter nights 2) and their discussion about specs to run the game was something like
-cpu 2.5ghz
-128mb vid card, dx9 & shader 2.0
So I believe that i should be able to run NWN 2 at low settings, run somewhat smoothly.
-The other game I wanted to play is AOE3 and that's off the Quake 3 engine so ill have no problems there at all.
I might be gett'n a discount from a guy at futureshop, 30-40% not sure, but that works out to 800 ish,
Is this a good deal, anyone delt with this notebook.
-Btw, I am aware of the 4200 rpm drive, and i would upgrade if possible.
-Yeah so this would be used for school, nwn2 low settings, aoe3, that's it.

Link broken.
Just a note, after dealing with futureshop for over 15 years not once did i get 30-40% off. Check some online dealers, NCIX, Canada Computers ect.

^ i'm sorry. i didnt understand that.
dedicated is dedicated for a reason.
if it was SHARED than it would take a chunk of the 512.
as is my understanding.

Just so you know even though it says dedicated, it will use system RAM. Just that 128 MB of what RAM you have is dedicated just for the graphics processor, leaving you with what is left over for the rest of the laptop.
And where did you here Age of Empires 3 is from quake 3 engine?
Ya, that statement about the ram is wrong. What you are describing is shared memory.
If it has dedicated memory, it has its own seperate ram moduals.

Sorry, just looked further into the Xpress 200M and yes it does have memory dedicated just for the video processor.
My mistake.

well for those who view my posts I was looking at this model, but because it's sold out, I called support service and told them that all other models 1000 were no where near as good, so GET MORE STOCK IN YOU HAVE A CUSTOMER.
What happened to Supply and Demand, Capatalism.
Well that being said, I am still looking.
I did a search for all other laptops with the ATI XPress 200 video card and here's what I got,
Keep in mind that the musts on this system arn't that great, 512mb ram, that video card, a decent cpu 2800+ sempron maybe and Wireless Internet & Lan.
The one Sold Out

Lineage, they don't mention if that one has shared or dedicated v.memory. Gotta be careful with the ATI Xpress IGP's (or any ATI IGP for that matter) most of them have shared video memory. I made that mistake once...
