Ive recently subscribed to the VIF DSL service and as promised on their website they run a 3mbit service, however after running several speed tests I've notice the highest speed I've gotten so far is 1.3mbits. Anyone else share the same problem? Or is anyone with VIF experiencing the full 3mbit service as promised?

I'm a bit skeptical at this point as I've signed up for a 1yr service and am greatly dissapointed. =( I spoke to a rep who said that they will have Bell check out the lines, but the funny thing was when I was with Bell's high speed I was constantly getting 3mbit service.. so I dont think the problem lies with Bell.. I hope they are not giving me the run around.

from what i have read on thier website that speeds may very upon the ability of your lines and normal dsl restrictions on speeds (proximity to server). They offer the service but they dont guarentee the speeds you will get. I think the best you can hope for is to have simular speeds to other dsl providers but save some cash.....that's about all i know

You should get the same, or at least close to the same speeds with any DSL provider...

Since you say that you were getting close to 3mbit with Bell, you should get close to the same with VIF

Hey I'm with VIF as well and noticed a speed drop. I use to get about 1.7 but now I'm down to 1.3 or below. When I was with other DSL providers I could never get even close to 2. I asked about the speed drop and they said they will check with Bell or something like that.

Most likley, they half to go through Bell's lines anyway.

it's likely you are too far from the central office to recieve full speeds and it's unfortunate you signed a contract before trying out the service.

He stated he was getting 3MB before when he was with Bell, how could he be too far from the CO?

Sounds to me like they may be throttling their service, or perhaps something you changed in your environment, if anything is causing the speed slowdown.

Have you changed anything since dropping bell and going with VIF? Did you get a cordless phone, new router, new phone line, change any DSL filters, get VOIP?

Hey guys, thanks for your response. I haven't changed anything since I was with bell, and I can confirm for a fact that during my days with Bell I was indeed getting 3mbit service, and nothing slower.

They said they are going to have a bell technician come check my lines... but really it sounds more like they are giving me a run around more than anything. I'm going to see if they fix it, if not I'm going to push for a refund and go back with Bell.

It's just kinda strange I heard couple people recommend this ISP from the forums. Ah well, thx guys. =)
