I currently have 2 mp3 players, one of them is the Sandisk 512 mb MP3 player. This is the one:

It takes 1 AAA alkaline battery to power it. So the first time I used it, the player came with a stock battery already in place. Worked fine. The battery died so then I wanted to replace it. I put a Panasonic AAA battery (fresh out of the box) and the player didn't power on. Tried Energizer, didn't power on. Tried some other brands as well as some no name brands to no avail. Finally, I throw in a AAA Duracell and it powers on. Did I just purchase a somewhat defective mp3 player? To this day, the only battery it takes is the Duracell. There's nothing wrong with this, in fact I mostly use Duracells anyway but I still find it strange. Anyone know the reasoning behind this or maybe anybody here have the same mp3 player? Thanks.

I can only suguest using a voltmeter and measure the voltage from the batteries that you are using. If all the batteries are alkaline then there should be no differance in each battery.
