Wonder if it's the same one as bitcomet? .... .Guess not from what I was reading in the release notes. I guess bitcomet better support some common header encryption.

From what i glanced at its amuch more beefed up version then what bitcomet has.
Bitcomests version is lame at best but it does get the job done in alot of cases with rogers.

That sounds encouraging for the upstart.

I couldn't do anything without bitcomet. With it I'm able to get close to 600k/sec with the encryption.

Now with the playing field more level, are you going to try µ?

Not right away since BitComet has had encryption out for a few months, ALOT more people using it, and it's going to take a few weeks before Az and u are up to the population of BC.
Now with the playing field more level, are you going to try µ?

Yeah, I tried uTorrent out for a week alongside Bitcomet and found BC still averaging a higher d/l. I really like how utorrent is so tiny and uses much less rsources though.

One of the private trackers I use has banned BC....so I was trying to d/l from it with uTorrent (the old version) and was getting no more then 2kB/s... I just d/l the new uTorrent and i'm getting 280kB/s !, so it's working great for me !...thanks for the heads up :)

Upgrade to the lastest version is fixes the issues that cause alot of trackers to ban BC.

Azureus will be out in the next day or so and utorrents encryption will work with it so they will have a much larger base then bc.
Also bc on encrypts the headers where as utorrent and azureus will let you chose to do just that or encrypt the whole thing.
The later being great since rogers or the like is going to figure out the header thing eventually and the full one is going to be very very hard to filter.

Does utorrent not know how to pick up a half d/l file ?... I've tried to restart 2 files that were 80% and it just starts over again ... *grrr*

For the file in the picture I have already d/l 3.90Gig of this file and it's 4.60Gig. I don't know if maybe utorrent doesn't show the rest of the file you have d/l already but I marked where it says complete and it says 0.1%. The other program I used before (BitTornado) when I started an incomplete torrent it would pick up where it left off and show it as 50% complete.
PS, I blanked out the tracker and files so I don't get in trouble :)

I'm back to using utorrent again. I love it. I missed the small and efficient program.

I'd be interested to know if Rogers users experience the same improvement with the encryption version used by Azureus/uTorrent that they experienced with BitComet.

Thats not the client per say but how the first client saves its file names which utorrent has issue with.
Its far more comman with older versions of bitcomet as they use to put overly long names on the saved pieces which other clients couldn't deal with.

At the moment its somewhat slower then bitcomets version but this is due to it being a beta verion and azureus verion not out yet.
When it goes final in a week or so and azureus comes out with its new version then it will have a much larger base then bitcomet.
Oh it does work more effectively then bitcomets version.

What do you mean with larger base?
smirnoff
02-05-2006, 05:46 PM
Bitcomet only as so many people using it.
Azureus on the other hand as a huge amount of people using it.
Utorrents encryption will work with the one azureus is coming out with shortly were as bitcomets wont.
So not only will utorrents encryption work with its base of users it will also work with all of the people using azureus.
All of which means more seeds and leechers using encryption and faster speeds for those being capped by say rogers.

This Utorrent program does it have a setup file or is it just an exe file. I clicked on the file and it just brought one file no setup.

Azureus has there final out now with encryption.
It and utorrent work together so there encryption is fine with each other.
