Internet phone question

My dad just signed up for phone over the internet through G3 telecom and we got a small box that we have to input an rj45 cable and output a regular phone cable. Only problem is i have a router on the top floor and the phone line is supposed to go in the basement 2 floors down. I have one line going down to the basement to a computer there. My question is, is there a special connector i can buy that splits one rj45 cable into 2 outputs? Or would i have to get another router?
