I am very disappointed to learn that the "double up" section of Flash Poker does not "remember" the cards from the "double up" deck.

I know this because I recorded the cards dealt in the "double up" section and after starting a new game, after say ten cards were dealt, the same card - say the QD - was dealt twice. So, what's the point in "doubling up" if it is all purely random? I expected that if you remembered what cards were dealt, then you would have an advantage. I mean, if twice as many black cards were dealt over red cards, then you would have an advantage betting on red. What is the point otherwise?

What this means is that there is no skill involved in that part of the game. If you remember that 10 black cards have been played but only 5 red cards, it would be skillful to bet on red. But the game doesn't remember and that is really terrible given how easy it would be to do and how it just destroys the whole game.

You see that small box at the lower left corner of the "double up" screen? It remembers the suits of the last four cards played. Presumably, this is to help you make a bet on an individual suit. But it is just a sham - totally worthless - because it has no effect on the cards actually played. The box displays the suits of the last four cards dealt. But that has no effect on what card will be dealt next.

Very disappointing.

I know the fault belongs with the author of Flash Poker and not with Deb or anyone here. But, I guess the person who was skilled enough to write Flash Poker didn't have enough of an appreciation for Poker to realize what a poor choice they made. I guess I should have been wary when I saw that a Straight was worth more than a Flush. That should have been my first clue that something was wrong. A Flush is always worth more than a Straight. The person who created Flash Poker may be an experienced programmer (they did a really good job in all other respects), but they don't seem to be a very experienced Poker player. It's really too bad. A small detail like this just ruins the entire game.

Poker is partly a game of skill, partly luck, partly bluffing. If you take away the element of skill, it's not nearly as interesting as it should be.

Maybe there are playing from a 2-deck 'shoe'?? ;)

You're probably correct. A programming shortcut was taken.

Not very reliable.
