I work part time in an office that has 4 computers networked and using Bellnet from there. We have a computer guy that set this all up with a server here at the office and another one at the Home. At the home the e-mail is Roger's.
All e-mail is pointed to come into the main computer at the office location and we can only send out from the other computers.
The problem is that although the accounts and e-mail are set up exactly the same on the 2 main computers that we use all the time - we can NOT send e-mail from the main machine. The computer guy comes in and resets everything and we can send out for about 2 hours and then it all goes back to nothing sending from the one computer.
Right now the Computer Guy is on holidays and this is becoming very annoying. It makes no sense to any of us at all. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we could try. All machines are running XP Pro.

More info would help track down the problem...
You said that you cannot send email from the one machine, do you get a delivery failure or any otherr error?
What gets "reset" when the computer guy comes in?

Thanks for responding.
The computer indicates it is connecting and then this error comes up.
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: ..........@bellnet.ca', Server: 'smtpa.bellnet.ca', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
The computer guy just goes into accounts and sets up the incoming and outgoing again (as far as he tells us) and then it works for an hour or two.

Sounds like a problem with Bellnet. Have you tried contacting them?
A temporary work-around would be to do what the computer guy does and re-enter the incoming and outgoing information.
You could also try reinstalling the email software (I'm assuming outlook or outlook express).

This is really becoming annoying. We did contact Bellnet and their response was to change a whole bunch of thngs that didn't work and then just use Web Mail. The computer guy came in after that and it worked for about 2 hours.
We have gone in and reset the account but now that is not working at all.
I was looking for a repair or re-install but it is not local on the machine so must be on the server. If it is on the server then why is my one computer working just fine and the other is not?????? I have gone through settings until I am going crazy and all appear the same.
Oh well, I guess until Mr "Computer Guy" gets back again we will just have to receive on the main machine and run to the secondary one to send out.
Thanks for trying to help.

Do you know how the computers are connected? Is there a server or are they hooked up just using a router?
There may be some settings in the router that need to be fixed.

We computer guys carry magic potions with us that are bestowed upon us after graduation from "computer guy" university. To maintain our jobs, we make sure we are always needed :D
This sounds like a required "hands-on", and "look-see" situation. Sorry we couldn't help you through this forum. Maybe a permissions setting gone awry on the locals or server? Hard to tell "without being there".

Thanks guys for all your help. I don't mind changing some settings on the computer but I don't know enough about the Servers to mess with them. Hopefully our long lost Computer Guy returns soon.
