I have just bought a new Dell Axim X51 520Mhz I was wondering if anybody else had an Axim and what they thought of it. I have read all the reviews I could find, the only fault seems to be the battery life.

I had one.. It was not bad.

I prefer the palm pilot. The battery life is longer, not to mention the amount of programs. I find allot more programs for the palm then the pocket pc.

I just need skype for the palm and im a happy camper.

Cheers

I just upgraded from Axim X5 to X51V. I've used the X5 daily for 2 years with no problems but the device did need to be soft-reset every couple of days to stay running smoothly.

The X51V on the other hand was a nightmare at first. I mean combination of integrated hardware and WM5 just did not seem to work together well. I've had basically every issue mentioned by users of Aximsite like disapearing sd/cf cards, self-discharging battery, excessive battery heat, random lockups,..you name it, it did it. I could not get it to work for more than few hours without a soft-reset.
I was about to send it back to Dell when rom A06 came out and man, what a difference ! Virtually all issues I've had are now gone and it's been very stable since then. I get 4 to 5 hours of straight use out of standard battery so I think it's not too bad.

Did you get the bluetooth to work?. X51V seems like a nightmare in truth. I can use my X50V weeks without a reset.

Yes, bluetooth works great as long as I enable both bluetooth and wifi at the same time.
