HP to cut 14,500 jobs

Hewlett-Packard Co. said Tuesday that it will cut 14,500 jobs, about 10 per cent of its work force, as part of the world's largest printer maker's plan to save $1.9-billion (U.S.) a year and boost business performance.
The job cuts — which fell in the middle of the 10,000 to 25,00 range expected by analysts — will occur over the next six quarters, the Palo Alto-based company.
