I'm trying to set up my rogers webspace and for some reason I can't seem to configure the dreamweaver settings, never had a problem with my old rogers webspace but just can't seem to hit the right settings for FTP.
Could someone post the correct settings, Thanks:nnk:

These settings are for the Canadian geocities.
(try passive on and off)

How can I publish my GeoCities web site with Dreamweaver?
If you have a GeoCities Plus or Pro plan, you can use Dreamweaver in combination with FTP to publish your web site. For detailed help with any of these steps, please consult your software's help documentation or consult Macromedia's online support center.
To get started, you'll need to use Dreamweaver define a local site. This means that you will designate a directory (folder) on your computer as the local root (main) folder for your web site files. As you build your site with Dreamweaver, you will store and edit your pages and files here.
In Dreamweaver MX's "Site" menu, choose "Manage Sites." (If you're using another version of Dreamweaver, these steps may vary slightly. Consult your software's help files for assistance.)
Choose either the Basic or Advanced tab (if you're a beginner, we recommend the Basic path).
If you chose Basic, you'll begin the Site Definition Wizard, which will guide you through defining a local site. If you chose Advanced, you'll be able to set up your local folder as well as remote and testing folders (see your software's help files for more information).
Next you'll need to define a remote site. Here you'll associate the GeoCities server with the local folder you defined in the first step.
From the "Site" menu, choose "Manage Sites."
Select a local site you have already defined (see instructions above) and click "Edit."
If you don't see the Advanced settings, choose "Advanced."
In the left column, click "Remote Info."
From the "Access" menu, select "FTP."
Here you'll need to enter your FTP settings. You can find your FTP settings on the Create & Update and Manage tabs of your GeoCities Control Panel, in the GeoCities Account Details module under "FTP Account Info." (Learn more about FTP.)
Note: Be sure to select the "Use Passive FTP" checkbox. Passive FTP enables your local software to set up an FTP connection rather than asking the remote server to set it up (this option is blocked by Yahoo! for your protection).
Click "OK."
(See Macromedia's help center for more information about defining a site.)
When you're ready to transfer your web site files to Yahoo!, visit Dreamweaver's Site panel or Site window, choose "Connect," then click "Put" to upload your selected files and folders. (See Macromedia's help center for more information about using Dreamweaver to FTP.)
When the transfer is complete, your files and folders will be available in your File Manager.

I do not believe you can upload to Rogers/Geocities with Dreamweaver or Frontpage. Infact, last week I couldn't even upload using WS-FTP. It is a downside of Rogers/Yahoo.

I could be wrong though.

I can't seem to connect at all, I wanted it as a place to practice and didn't really need to upload but just figured I'd try and see how Rogers webspace is, not very impressive.:rrg:

So should I use wingnut31@rogers.com and my password or just wingnut31 and my password? I don't need to sign up a geocities for a username do I, I"ve been trying to use the same one I access my email with.
Thanks

I think you might have to register to activate your space. It's really stupid now that Rogers sub contracted its web space to Yahoo.

Hopefully someone will add some info to this post.
I use my own web space from dreamhost for my website.

No luck again, I've got my site with mjzhosting.net and was hoping to use rogers as a test space but it seems the want you to jump through hoops to make it work.:rrg:

I ftp'd a whole site on Saturday to geocities, so it works.
Make sure you are on the right Geocities. Rogers uses the Canadian one.
Then set up a geocities password.
Use passive ftp mode.

I've tried to post two separate sites to Geocities Canada using FRONTPAGE and FTP transfer. One worked without a problem, the other nevre recognized the configuration. I emailed them and haven't heard a thing back. I did EXACTLY the same for both sites.

I moved my site from Rogers webspace to Geocities at the time they made the change. I edit in FrontPage but upload withFTP Explorer. The filename rules at Geocities are the main problem. They have a list of allowed suffixes that you have to know. Also they don't allow spaces in filenames so I had to change a few names and links. Since then it has worked fine. I have two no- ad sites and one with ads, all included in the Rogers subscription. The ads can really screw up the site, in some cases they show partly on top and partly underneath some pages, a really weird effect.
