For anyone who intends to jet over to the west coast of North America over the long weekend, from Alaska to Mexico, you will be able to catch an annular solar eclipse - clear skies permitting, naturally.

The annular eclipse will not be visible for regions east of Manitoba here in Canada. Sorry...
(LMAO! That 'interrupted' super-villain monologue was GREAT. I'm still laughing! It almost makes me wonder if the producers got that idea from Pixar's, "The Incredibles.")

"The Dark Knight" was a much better film in my humble opinion, but the makers of that bit of superhero summer action cinema were not really looking to tickle your funnybone...

It’s no secret that Eastman Kodak Co. has fallen on hard times in recent memory, but despite all of that, the ailing photography company has been able to keep one secret closely-guarded for more than 30 years. Kodak maintained a small nuclear reactor filled with 3.5-pounds of weapons-grade enriched uranium in an underground basement in Rochester, New York and nobody was the wiser.

Known as a Californium Neutron Flex multiplier, Kodak acquired the reactor in 1974 which was loaded with 3.5-pounds of uranium plates around a Californium-252 core. Uranium is the material used to create nuclear weapons.

It was kept in an underground bunker with 2-foot thick walls and was under tight security. The device was one of only two ever created and the only one used for private industry.

Kodak used the device to conduct decades of research, check materials for impurities and perform neutron radiography testing. The company maintains that the device was perfectly safe and since it wasn’t a power plant, there was no risk of explosion and there was never a radiation leak. Read more....
On Sunday, JPMorgan boss Jamie Dimon said he was "dead wrong" to dismiss concerns about trading at the bank.

It had been reported on Monday that Ms Drew, one of JPMorgan's best-paid executives, had offered her resignation several times following disclosure of the losses last Thursday.

However, in a statement issued in New York, Mr Dimon said: "Ina Drew has been a great partner over her many years with our firm. Despite our recent losses in the CIO, Ina's vast contributions to our company should not be overshadowed by these events."

...

He said he did not know the full extent of the problem in April, when he described the concerns as a "tempest in a teapot".

The following is only for people in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area):

I am selling my laptop, it's only a few months old, it cost almost $900 -- after taxes -- when I bought it, it originally came with 4GB of RAM which I upgraded to 8GB, this I did recently. The specs are as follows:

ASUS K53E (aka X53E)
15.6" Screen
Intel Core i7 2670QM (Quad-Core) @ 2.2GHz w/ TurboBoost (TurboBoost automatically overclocks the processor for a short period of time, I've seen it go as high as 4GHz)
Intel HD 3000
WiFi (802.11 b/g/n)
USB 3
750GB HDD
8GB DDR3 RAM
DVD Burner
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium x64

Here are some pics:

For a little over 10 days now, my internet keeps cutting out at EXACTLY 10:00pm. I can still use it but it will keep disconnecting every 30 seconds (the yellow exclamation mark on the icon in taskbar over my network icon). It will continue this pretty much all night (latest I stayed up was 2am and still wasn't working properly). But during the morning or daytime, it works fine.
Last weekend, for the whole Sunday, it didn't work at all from morning to next Monday morning. But in the afternoon it just came back to life and I got connection (but still cuts out at 10pm again).

I called my internet company and they sent a tech guy to replace the router. But at 10pm, sure enough, internet began to cut out every 30 seconds.

The tech guy suggested it may be my LAN card dying? If that's so, why doesn't it just disconnect ANYTIME? Or at sporadic times? Why is it so SPECIFIC and start at 10:00pm??

Does anyone know if this sounds like a LAN card dying or is it more likely a service issue? Could it be possibly a setting or program?

It's happening on my desktop.
