In Dusseldorf, a Nazi themed spin on Wagner's opera, Tannhauser, got the hook after a single performance. People booed, walked out of the theater, many have demanded their money back and a few patrons had to seek medical attention(!) after sitting through some of it.

The moment I read the story, the song, "Springtime for Hitler and Germany" began to resonate in my mind. If the makes were trying to same fraud as Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder, in the Mel Brook's classic, "The Producers", they obviously succeeded where their fictional counterparts failed.

Among some interesting tidbits: Electric guitar "machine guns" executing concentration camp prisoners; Naked 'junkies' walking around on stage; A chorus dressed up as rats; and the hero and his lover sailing away in a giant sanitary napkin to close the opera. (SERIOUSLY!!)
